Natural Bridge Native Dies At Age 80

Janey Virginia Moore Slagle, 80, of Buena Vista, Virginia passed away Friday, May 22, 2020 at Shenandoah House at Augusta Health.

She was born on September 20, 1939 in Natural Bridge, a daughter of the late Ralph Elijah Moore and Beulah Jane Grant Moore.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Paul" Earl Slagle, and a brother, Wayne "Buck" Moore.

Janey is survived by her daughter, Paula "Shelly" Slagle Deacon and husband, Donnie, and two special grandchildren, Maddie and Myranda, who were her pride and joy. She is also survived by her brother, William "Bill" Moore, who she loved like a son, and wife, Deanie. Also surviving are four stepchildren who she loved as her own: Steve Slagle (Beth), Barry Slagle, Ralph Slagle (Barbara) and Darlene Hughes (Al); nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Patricia Moore, wife of the late Wayne "Buck" Moore, and special friends, Bessie Hawes, Elna Fultz, Debi Fitzgerald and Gladys Link.

Janey retired from Modine Manufacturing Company after 32 years. She worked hard all of her life taking care of others before herself. She will always be remembered for helping others by coordinating fundraisers for friends and family. She loved gardening and collecting antique furniture with her husband, Paul. Everyone that met her always remembered her positive attitude and loving kindness.

Special thanks to Shenandoah House at Augusta Health who took such good care of her during her illness.

Graveside services were held at Green Hill Mausoleum.

Arrangements were by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
