Obituary for Faith Hostetter Petty (Poodle) Faith Hostetter Petty (Poodle)
Goshen Resident Was Rockbridge County School Bus Driver For 43 Years

Faith Hostetter Petty (Poodle), 78, of Goshen, Virginia entered her Heavenly home after a long illness Wednesday, June 24, 2020 surrounded by her family.

Born February 13, 1942 in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Hanie Hostetter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Hope Rion; brother-in-law, Ernest Rion; nephew, Nolan Rion; son-in-law, Bobby Sydenstricker; brother, Hector Hostetter; and great-great-niece, Jennarae Nicole.

Faith was a bus driver for Rockbridge County Schools for 43 years. She was not just a bus driver to the children, but a friend and role model. She held a special place in her heart for each and every child. She also worked as a cook at many local restaurants.

Faith loved driving in the Powder Puff derby back in the '70s, camping, playing horse shoes, singing and dancing, having family picnics, the color blue, being outdoors and flowers. She loved helping others by being a caregiver, a mother, and a friend. She was always there for anyone who needed her.

Above all, her biggest joy was being with her children and being "Grannie" to all her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She was a good woman with a heart of gold who loved life and God.

Surviving are her husband of 59 years, James Petty; daughters, Myra Stuples (Wayne), Debbie Petty (Dale), Nancy Petty (Wayne), Sheryl Petty (Ladybug), and Jamie Petty (Stacy); grandchildren, Donna, Michelle (Jeff Allen), Samantha, Caleb, Nolan, Hailey, Ethan, Karlee and Landon; two great-grandchildren, Kamryn and Kristin; niece, Tammy; and two great-nephews, Jackson and Nathan. Faith touched too many lives to mention.

A special thanks to Dr. Bunn and the ladies of Rockbridge Area Hospice.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 4, at her daughter, Nancy's house. There will be a celebration of life starting at 5 p.m. Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
