Obituary for Roger Lee Sheppard Roger Lee Sheppard
Former WV Department Of Highways Employee Retired From Greenbrier County Sheriff's Department

Roger Lee Sheppard, 75, of Lewisburg, West Virginia passed July 11, 2020 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley.

Roger was born June 24, 1945 at Richlands, Virginia and was the son of the late Charles William and Mamie Charlene Auxier Sheppard.

Roger was employed at West Virginia Department of Highways. He retired after 25 years with the Greenbrier County Sheriff's Department and was the Sheriff of Greenbrier County for four years.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman, camper, golfer and shooter, having won several Practical Police Combat Championships including the Governor's Top Twenty twice.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Pete Sheppard.

Surviving Roger is his wife of 53 years, Margie Johnson Sheppard and her mother, Armella Johnson; sons, Jeff (Melanie) Sheppard; Scott (Shannan) Sheppard and Brian (Marsha) Sheppard; grandchildren, Tierra, Brett, Garrett, Brodey, Cortland, Dwain, Carli, Caden, Jayna, Janson, Hunter and Fisher Sheppard; great grandchildren, Paisley, Harper, Landon, Bristol, Jodie and Dallas Sheppard; sister, Sandy Sheppard; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be on Wednesday July 15, 2020 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg.

A private graveside service will be held at the Greenbrier Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Pastor Mark Shafer officiating.

Strict Covid-19 restrictions will be enforced.
