Obituary for Gene Hunter Higgins Gene Hunter Higgins
Longtime Rockbridge County School Bus Driver Was Ebenezer A. R. Presbyterian Church Member

Gene Hunter Higgins, 78, of Lexington, Virginia died Friday, July 10, 2020 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born May 7, 1942 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Tanzy Brown Higgins and Louise Vest Higgins.

Gene was a member of the Ebenezer A. R. Presbyterian Church and retired with 29 years of service as a bus driver with the Rockbridge County Schools. He was a great carpenter, loved to work in the garden and took great pride in his yard work. He loved listening to bluegrass and gospel music along with the ministry of Billy Graham.

Surviving are his wife, Garneth Marie Hostetter Higgins; daughter; April Campbell (Greg Campbell Jr.); brother, Roger Lee Higgins; sisters, Nancy Kirby and Elizabeth Ferguson; and grandchildren, Allison Nicole Campbell and Landrey Skye Campbell.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 16 at Harrison Funeral Chapel by Ray Higgins Jr. Burial will follow at Ebenezer A. R. P. Cemetery. Masks are mandatory and social distancing will be required.
