Obituary for Deloris Jean Gillispie McCaleb Deloris Jean Gillispie McCaleb
Eagle Rock Resident Was Oak Hill Bible Church Member

Deloris Jean Gillispie McCaleb, age 74, of 588 Locust Bottom Road, Eagle Rock, Virginia died August 2, 2020 at LewisGale Hospital – Montgomery, Blacksburg.

She was born November 28, 1945 in Lookout, West Virginia to the late James Owen and Nellie Gray Gillispie.

She was a homemaker throughout her life, as well as a dedicated and loving wife and mother.

She attended Oak Hill Bible Church.

She enjoyed reading the Bible, working on projects, and taking care of her cats and dogs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Gillispie in 2016.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Edwin Curtis McCaleb of Eagle Rock; a daughter, Sherry Shaw and husband, Terry of Wirtz; two sons, Brian McCaleb and Michael McCaleb, both of Eagle Rock; a brother, Bobbie Gillispie; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She will be loved forever and greatly missed. One of her favorite scriptures was Isaiah 43:2, "When you pass through the waters, I'll be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God."

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Terry Shaw officiating. Afterwards, she will be laid to rest in Bethel Cemetery, Botetourt County.

The family will visit with friends on Friday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Rummage for Rescue, 5757 Rich Patch Road, Covington, VA 24457.
