Obituary for Ruth M. Ferdon Olszewski Ruth M. Ferdon Olszewski
New Jersey Native Was Lexington Resident

Ruth M. Ferdon Olszewski passed away on August 9, 2020 at the Mayflower Retirement Home in Lexington, Virginia.

Ruth was born in Jersey City, New Jersey and spent much of her life there, before retiring to Natural Bridge Station.

Ruth was a factory worker during World War II, and later became a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing and knitting for friends and family. She also had a love of animals, especially cats, which she passed on to her daughter and grandchildren.

Ruth was the wife of Joseph Olszewski, to whom she was married for 68 years. They fondly shared memories of Joseph's time working with NASA, when they traveled to Florida for shuttle launches or dined with famous scientists.

In addition to her husband, Ruth is survived by her sister, Betty Dick; her son-in-law, George Guenther and granddaughters, Jennifer Guenther and Sarah Lofgren; and her great-granddaughter, Madeline.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Kara Guenther.

Services are private.
