Obituary for Charles (C.R.) Randolph Simmons Charles (C.R.) Randolph Simmons
Former Monterey Resident Dies At Age 50

Charles (C.R.) Randolph Simmons, 50, of Staunton, Virginia and formerly of Monterey, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.

He was born in Staunton on January 25, 1970, a son of the late Charles William and Carolyn "Maxine" (Rexrode) Simmons.

A 1988 graduate of Highland High School, C.R. worked as a carpenter in residential construction.

He enjoyed time spent hunting, cooking, canning and baking. He was also a diehard Jeff Gordon fan and liked watching Dallas Cowboys’' football. He loved his parents, his beloved cats and Highland County, which he always considered home.

He is survived by his daughter, Ashley See of Marlinton, WV; sister, Wanda G. Puffenbarger and husband, Bill of Augusta Springs; aunt, Nancy Stanley of Mt. Solon; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his aunts, Charlotte Botkin, Barbara Mitchell, Betty Lotts and Brenda Puffenbarger; and his uncles, Bub and Rusty Rexrode.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the C. R. Simmons Memorial Fund, c/o Blue Grass Valley Bank, P. O. Box 516, Monterey, Va. 24465.

The Obaugh Funeral Home, McDowell, Virginia, handled the arrangements.
