Retired Seamstress Was Christ United Methodist Church Member

Martha Juanita Puckett Farley, age 82, of 109 Wilson Creek Lane, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Wednesday, September 2, 2020 in Covington.

She was born August 26, 1938 in Clifton Forge to the late George and Doris Ayers Puckett. She was a retired seamstress for Halmode Apparel and a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Covington, where in the past she served as former historian, secretary of United Methodist Women, head of the Kitchen Ministries, and Sunday School teacher substitute.

She was the best mom in the world, and a very loving and caring mother and friend to all.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Woodrow Farley; two brothers, Marshall Puckett and Dwight Puckett; and a step daughter, Annette Farley.

She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Ricki Higgins of Clifton Forge, Sheila and Mike Landis of Covington, Rhonda and Steve Burger of Clifton Forge, and Donna Marie and Tony Green of Iron Gate; three sons and daughters-in-law, Danny Lee and Christy Nicely of Low Moor, Tony and Roxanne Nicely of Clifton Forge, and Todd and Scarlet Nicely of Selma; two step daughters, Donna Farley Herald and husband, Steve of Clifton Forge and Sherry Farley Hensley of Covington; a brother, George Robert Puckett of Dublin; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Pastor Greg Kropff officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Baptist Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

Pallbearers will be Danny Nicely, Tony Nicely, Todd Nicely, Charlie Burger, Chris Landis and Alex Nicely. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home. In keeping with COVID-19 guidelines, masks are recommended for those attending the services.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Christ United Methodist Church, 200 E. Fudge Street, Covington, VA 24426.
