Robert Milton Mears III, 80, of Buena Vista, Virginia died Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

Born September 21, 1940 in Braddock, Pa., he was a son of the late Robert Milton Mears Jr. and Nancy Fritzinger Mears.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elaine Virginia Bane Mears.

Surviving are his daughters, Laura M. Huffman (Sean) of Lexington, and Dana Mears Southers, Monica Duke and Sarah Mears, all of Buena Vista; sons, David Mears of Buena Vista and Doug Mears of Staunton; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; canine friends, Rosie and Dottie, all of whom were precious to him.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 10 at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Pastor Hunter Phillips officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Masks will be required, along with social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Rockbridge Christian Academy, 21 Snowy Egret Lane, Lexington, VA 24450.
