Obituary for Bernard Lee Porterfield Bernard Lee Porterfield
White Sulphur Springs Resident Was Former Greenbrier Hotel Laundry Manager

Bernard Lee Porterfield, 79, of White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea.

Lee was born April 19, 1941 at Fort Spring, WV, the son of the late Bernard Grey and Beulah Mae Morgan Porterfield.

He was a U. S. Navy veteran, attended Wesleyan Chapel in Beckley, was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and attended two years at Beckley College.

Lee worked as a trucker and at the Pentagon in Washington DC. He started working as a caddy, on the golf course and worked his way up to manager of the laundry at the Greenbrier Hotel.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Porterfield.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Shirley Ann Porterfield; son, Bernard Andrew Porterfield (Shannon) of Pittsburgh, PA.; step daughter, Cherie Ryder (Keith) of White Sulphur Springs; step-son, Donald Buckley, Jr. (Sandy) of White Sulphur Springs; grandsons, Grey, Devin and Wade Porterfield and step-grandson, Brett Buckley; sister, Carol Ann Sellards (Duane) of Beckley; and brothers, Larry and Mannix Porterfield, both of Beckley.

A military graveside service will be held on Thursday October 15, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Indian Creek Community Cemetery with Pastor Bobby McClintic officiating.

The family will receive their family and friends on Thursday October 15, 2020 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs.

The family suggests that everyone follow Covid 19 regulations, masks and distancing while in the Chapel.
