Retired Truck Driver Was Clifton Forge Resident

George Andrew Putnam, age 62, of 622 West Ridgeway Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Friday, October 30, 2020 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem.

He was born February 8, 1958 in Clifton Forge to the late Dennis Dudley Putnam, Sr. and Patricia Lowman Putnam.

He was a retired truck driver and dispatcher for Hall Transfer.

He was a fan of Louisiana State University "L.S.U." sports and John Wayne movies. He was also a gun enthusiast and loved hunting and reading.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James Edward Putnam and John Francis Putnam.

He is survived by three daughters, Dawn Warf and husband, Bruce of Oriskany, Botetourt County, Megan Wilson and husband, Jason of Clifton Forge, and Ashley Morales and husband, Luis of Roanoke; a son, George Andrew "Andy" Putnam, Jr. and wife, Samantha of Iron Gate; a step son, Aaron Smith of Clifton Forge; a sister, Lucy Sanchez and husband, Hugo of Houston, TX; two brothers, Dennis Putnam and wife, Betty, and David Putnam, both of Clifton Forge; seventeen grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Jason Kibbe.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. The family visited with friends on Sunday, November 1, 2020 from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.

Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge handled arrangements. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Shenandoah Autism Center, 2419 Valley Ridge Road, Covington, VA 24426.
