Obituary for William C. (Billy) Falls William C. (Billy) Falls
Longtime Buena Vista Resident Was Vietnam Veteran, Former Sawmill Employee

William C. (Billy) Falls, 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at his home in Buena Vista, Virginia.

He was born in Lexington on November 25, 1949 in the old Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital.

He attended school and resided in Lexington until he was drafted in the Army to go to Vietnam in 1968. He returned home from his tour in July 1971 to live in Lynchburg, where his parents and family had moved for a short time. He married Barbara Ayers December 24, 1971, and they had four amazing children.

He was a man of many talents and worked at a few different professions. He last worked at Shenandoah Hardwood Sawmill in Buena Vista, formerly old Georgia Pacific Sawmill, where he performed maintenance and many other duties.

He loved his family, the outdoors, boating, fishing, Dale Earnhardt and NASCAR, the Blues and Washington Redskins football, North Carolina Tarheels, cooking, old cars and woodworking.

He was a proud Vietnam veteran and patriot of his country; he was so happy and honored when they were finally recognized by their country.

He was our chef, and was an awesome cook, a mechanic, electrician, welder, carpenter, plumber, "just a jack of all trades and a master of none," he would say.

He loved to camp and fish in Tappahannock, with his good friends, James Martin, Jason Vasser, Poncho Bradley, all us kids and grandkids. He loved catching and watching us all catch those catfish. He loved buying new tools to work with and cooking gear; he always kept up with all the new gadgets and technology, sometimes late night "home shopping network" buying the latest and newest.

He enjoyed his daily Facebook chats with his mother-in-law, Virginia Lowe "Nanny," and keeping up with us kids and his friends. He spent a lot of days and took many rides with his best four-legged friend, Lance.

He was proud and loved where he had come from and where he settled down. He always said, "I was raised in Lexington, but Buena Vista has always been home!"

He has four children, 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one awesome dog.

He is preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Lee Dudley; his father, James William Falls; his mother, Edith Marie Dudley; his brother, Kenneth "Booty" Ruley; and his great-granddaughter, Addison "Addie" Mae Falls.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ayers; his best four-legged friend, Lance Falls; his children, Brian Falls and wife, Tasha Holland, Sherri Falls and friend, Matt Love, Chad Falls and wife, Ashley Falls and Matt Falls; his beloved mother-in-law, Virginia A. Lowe; his grandchildren, Nicholas Falls and wife, Kayla Born, Bryce Donald, Spencer Falls, Jocelynn "Josie" Falls, Landon St. Clair, Navara Ogden, Kandice Ogden, Kassi Nuckoles and husband, Tyler, Kayley Falls, Cole Falls, Chance Kent, Kylie Ramsey, Kaden Ramsey, and Cael Falls; his great-grandchildren, Harper Falls, Teagan Nuckoles, and Charlee Nuckoles; his brothers, Dennis Falls, Eddie Falls, and Robert Falls; his sisters, Charlotte Hill and husband, Michael Hill, Stephanie Elder and husband, Gary Elder, and Melanie Falls; many nephews, nieces and friends.
 We called him "Pops."

Arrangements were handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
