Obituary for Ruth Elizabeth Wade Beard Ruth Elizabeth Wade Beard
Rockbridge County Resident Was New Providence Presbyterian Church Member

Ruth Elizabeth Wade Beard, age 93, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at her residence.

She was born March 30, 1927, fourth daughter of the late Roy "Kite" and Mary Bare Wade.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Kenneth Beard, and three sisters, Virginia Whitesell, Mary Frances Poole and Bernice Nye.

A member of New Providence Presbyterian Church, Ruth was an example of Christian meekness and great faith to everyone who knew her. She worked many years alongside her husband on their dairy farm, and her small frame deceptively hid incredible strength. She was a friend to all animals, and any cats that found themselves homeless in her vicinity soon discovered they were the luckiest of all creatures.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda B. M. Wood; a granddaughter, Kimberly Cash (Sam); a grandson, Steven Maddox (Chelby); and five great grandchildren, Sammy Cash (Ana), Aspen Johnson (Tyler), Madison Cash, Ty Maddox, and Tenley Maddox.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, there are no words to accurately convey the impact she had on their lives or how much she will be missed.

A memorial service will be conducted at New Providence Presbyterian Church on November 16 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Mike Snider. Burial will follow in the New Providence Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cat's Cradle, 122 S. Main Street Suite # 101, Harrisonburg, VA 22801 or Cats Unlimited, P. O. Box 484, Lexington, VA 24450 in her memory.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
