Retired C&O Brakeman Was Longtime Mountain Valley United Methodist Church Member

Raymond Carter (Jim) Tucker, Sr., 90, of 600 Montgomery Knob Road, Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at his home.

Mr. Tucker was born September 9, 1930 in Alleghany County a son of the late Robert Lee and Myrtle Tingler Tucker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert "Baldy" Tucker, Sr.; a grandson, Kenny Tucker and a daughter-in-law, Marie Tucker; seven brothers and three sisters.

He retired in 1980 as a brakeman after over 25 years with the C&O Railroad. He was a longtime member and Trustee of the Mountain Valley United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Nadine Bailey Tucker of Covington; one son, Raymond C. Tucker, Jr. of Covington; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rose and Randy "Boo" Selleck, Helen "Sister" and Charlie Selleck and Becky and Ray Richardson, all of Covington; two brothers, Robert Lee Tucker, Jr. of Roanoke and George "Buzzy" Tucker of Covington; two sisters, Bertha "Sissy" Borgies and Thelma Wright, both of Roanoke; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Tucker Family Cemetery on Montgomery Knob Road with the Rev. Jonathan Greer officiating assisted by the Rev. H. Ray Tucker.

Arritt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
