Retired Alleghany County Sheriff's Office Dispatcher Was Clifton Forge Native

Tony Rosalie Humphreys Smith, age 76, of Friendship Health Care Center of Roanoke, and formerly of Clifton Forge, Virginia died Monday, November 30, 2020 at Friendship Health Care Center.

Tony was born April 6, 1944 in Clifton Forge to the late Stonewall Jackson Humphreys, Jr. and Marion Leo Byers Humphreys.

She was a graduate of Clifton Forge High School and attended Dabney S. Lancaster Community College.

She was a retired dispatcher for the Alleghany County Sheriff's Office.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Lawrence Smith; a son, William Lawrence Smith II; and a brother, Max Leo Humphreys.

She is survived by her daughter, Maude Beth Haworth of Roanoke; two sisters, Candy Humphreys of Virginia Beach and Yvonne Rowan and husband, Duane of Salem; a brother, Stony Humphreys of Roanoke; a grandson, Walter Darvin "Wally" Haworth IV; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Mr. Chris Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. There will be no visitation. However, friends may call any time at Nicely Funeral Home.
