Obituary for James Paul Flint James Paul Flint
Rockbridge County Resident Was Navy Veteran, Had Long Carrer In Plumbing And Heating Business

James Paul Flint, beloved husband of Joyce Flint, went home to be with the Lord on December 4, 2020. He was 82.

Mr. Flint was born in Buena Vista on February 25, 1938, a son of the late Sidney Flint and Maude Slagle Flint.

He served his country in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1959, and married the former Joyce Ann Camden shortly after his discharge. They were married for 61 years.

After the Navy, Mr. Flint embarked upon a career in plumbing and heating. From 1973 to 1977 Mr. Flint attended Piedmont Bible College in Winston-Salem, N.C., where he earned a degree in theology.

Mr. Flint and his family returned to Rockbridge County after his graduation and from that point forward Mr. Flint served the Rockbridge community as a pastor of local churches and as the proprietor of Paul Flint Plumbing and Heating.

As a pastor, Mr. Flint was a man of unwavering faith and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ for 50 years. As a business man, he was trusted and honest and was still doing small jobs for long-term customers earlier this year. Mr. Flint passed peacefully in his sleep after a short illness.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; sons, Lance Flint, Mark and wife, Robyn Flint, and Phillip and wife, Lindsay Flint; daughter, Lisa and husband, Mike Wright; grandchildren Brittany Foscoe, Bethany Flint, Kayla Wright, Keri Wright, Heather Flint Kowalik, Sarah Flint, Addie Flint, and Parker Flint; great-granddaughters, Raelyn Knick and Eden Kowalik; sister, Gerry Southers of Buena Vista; several nieces, nephews and extended family; and dear friend, Rex Mason of Buena Vista.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 11 at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. Guests are encouraged to observe COVID protocols, including use of masks and social distancing.

Arrangements are by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
