Obituary for Steve Hinkle Steve Hinkle
Lewisburg Resident Dies At Age 69

Steve Hinkle, 69, of Lewisburg, West Virginia, passed away suddenly at his home December 5th of a probable aneurysm.

He was the youngest of nine children born to the late Ralph S. and Floye M. Nettles Hinkle.

In April 1991, he married Donna Hovatter and became an instant dad to three young boys, 4, 9, and 11, whom he adopted in 1992.

Steve was an avid deer hunter and outdoorsman and shared these with his sons. He was a man of few words, gentle but strong, could fix anything, and was as dependable as the sun rising each morning.

Steve was an athlete all through school, and was a "natural" Little League Softball player. He played football for Greenbrier East High School, and was among the first graduating classes of GEHS in 1969. He continued playing softball in his 20s and early 30s on local teams, always the pitcher.

He began working for EA "Shine" Tuckwiller when he was 16 and started full-time as soon as he graduated. He enjoyed (almost) every aspect of farming and raising cattle. Steve continued working at Stone Hill Farm until COPD slowed him down at age 63.

In addition to his parents, whom he cared for until they both passed away in 1983, Steve was preceded in death by his sister, Clara "Sis" Groves, and brothers, Lacy and Earl "Pop" Hinkle.

He is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Donna; his sons, Ben, Luke, and Jesse Hinkle; sisters, Ina "Skeet" (Fred) Hess of IL, and Patsy (Ron) Warnick of WA; brothers, Harold (Grace) Hinkle, and Burl "Jebo" (Bobbie) Hinkle of Lewisburg; Gary "Gus" (Kathy) Hinkle of TX; and 16 nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Steve was an organ donor and wished to be cremated. There will be no service at this time. The family requests that donations in Steve's memory be made to the Edward R Tuckwiller Scholarship Fund (at Premier Bank), Fairlea Ambulance, Lewisburg First Responders, or the Fire/Rescue Dept in your area.

The Wallace & Wallace funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
