Obituary for Kent Donald Smith, Sr. Kent Donald Smith, Sr.
Former U. S. Air Force Policeman, Was C&O Railroad Retiree

Kent Donald Smith, Sr., age 84, of 816 Church Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at The Brian Center Health and Rehab, Low Moor.

Kent was born March 8th, 1936 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Chester Arthur Smith, Jr. and Evelyn Leosha Hatcher Smith.

He served in the United States Air Force as an Air Policeman, and was a retiree of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Clifton Forge, and loved hunting and watching sports, especially the Oakland Raiders football team.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Katie Thompson Smith of Clifton Forge; four sons, Kent Smith, Jr. of Roanoke, Kevin Smith and partner, Abbey Lunden of Chesterfield, Keith Smith, Sr. and wife, Regina of Clifton Forge, and Kirk Smith, Sr. and wife, Tonya of Clifton Forge; a sister, Barbara Jean Taylor of Roanoke; seven grandchildren, Keith Smith, Jr., Kylia Smith, Bryson London, Tori Lunden, Keyana Smith-Harris, Nicholas Lunden, and Kirk Smith, Jr.; two step grandchildren, Christianna Burks and Kameron Moore; one great-grandson, Kooper Harris and one expected great-grandson, Kole Harris; and a number of nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Sabrina Law and Desiree Taylor and special nephew, Sean Law.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 13th, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Roslyn Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. There will be no formal visitation. However, friends may visit any time at Nicely Funeral Home.
