Obituary for Gladys Cauley-Crist Gladys Cauley-Crist
Founding Member Of Rockbridge Arts Guild Dies At Age 95

Gladys Cauley-Crist, 95, of Lexington, Virginia, died Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Heritage Hall.

Born December 5, 1925 in Roanoke County, she was a daughter of the late Julius B. Meade and Mary Mitchell Meade.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest "Ernie" Cauley, and her second husband, Raleigh.

Gladys was a founding member of Rockbridge Arts Guild and a member of Artist in Cahoots for a number of years. She and a group of others from Rockbridge Arts Guild put together the first art show at the Rockbridge Regional Fair in Barn 5 of the Virginia Horse Center with the help of Jon Repair.

Surviving are her children, Martha Potter (Steve) of Lexington, Robbie Cauley (Sonya) of Rockbridge Baths, and Mary Schultz (Geoffrey) of Richmond; five grandchildren, Christopher, Ross, Jessi, Grace and Brady; and four great-grandchildren, Drew, Chase, Tenley and Emmy Lou.

A private graveside service will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery (formerly Stonewall Jackson Cemetery) with the Rev. Kevin Channell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers St., Lexington, VA 24450 or Heritage Hall Activities Fund, 205 Houston St., Lexington, VA 24450.
