Obituary for Russell (Beetle) Lee Hull Russell (Beetle) Lee Hull
Monterey Resident Was Former Hy-Rail Technician

Russell (Beetle) Lee Hull, 66, of the Strait Creek community of Monterey, Virginia, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020 at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

He was born at Warm Springs Hospital on October 26, 1954, a son of the late Thelma "Mae" Doyle and Russell Edward Hull.

A man with a strong work ethic and provider for his family, Beetle retired from Special Fleet Services after many years of service as a hy-rail technician. After his retirement he enjoyed working alongside his wife and daughter, Andrea, at their family restaurant, Hull's Hideaway.

Beetle was a family man whose life centered around his family. He was a NASCAR fan, who loved cars and will be remembered for having wrecked many of them. He also enjoyed traveling around the county, especially during hunting season visiting camps and spending time with his friends. Above all, Beetle will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Delmas "Moose" Doyle and Donald "Duck" Hull.

Beetle is survived by his wife of 27 years, Melissa Wright Hull; four daughters, Chasity Hull Godshall and husband, Stephen of Bridgewater, Emily Hull and companion, William "Wilber" Stephenson of Meadowdale, Amy Vaus and husband, Evan and Andrea Hull all of Monterey; a son, James Hull of Harrisonburg; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary "Beef" and Rhonda "Kay" Hull, Ernest “Radar” and JoAnn Hull, and Larry "Sop" and Jeanie Lou Hull, all of Monterey; sister and brother-in-law, Carol Ann and Larry Maynard of Delbarton, WV; special friend who he considered a sister-in-law, Vickie Hoover of Monterey; grandchildren, Isiah and Quintin Garland, Kaitlyn Wilson, Weston and Wyatt Stephenson and Lorrissa Vaus; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Obaugh Funeral Home with pastor Ray Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Chapman Halterman Cemetery (aka: Anice Hevener Cemetery) located on Forks of the Water Road.

The staff of Obaugh Funeral Home staff will receive friends and family wishing to pay their respects throughout the day Tuesday, December 22nd, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Melissa and Beatle.

Active pallbearers will be William "Wilber" Stephenson, Evan Vaus, Stephen Godshall, Isiah Garland, David Jesse and Frank DeAscentis.
