Lewisburg Resident Was ABB Retiree, Longtime Elks Leader

Harold Lee Windon, 82, of Lewisburg, West Virginia, died Monday, December 21, 2020 at Stonerise Lewisburg (formerly known as The Brier) after a long illness.

Born in Monroe County, July 17, 1938, he and his twin brother and two sisters were raised at Davis Stuart Inc. in Lewisburg.

Upon completion to Greenbrier High School in 1957, Harold worked for Lewisburg Wholesale before entering the Army Reserves. He retired from ABB/Bendix Corporation in 1993 and worked part-time at WalMart until 2012.

Harold served as Exalted Ruler and Treasurer of the BPOE Lodge #1758 as well as holding many other offices within the organization. He loved the brotherhood and the mission of the Elks and could be seen on a daily basis working in his office at the club. He was very involved with the Elks National Foundation and the annual Hoop-Shoot held annually for area students.

He is survived by his wife, Martha (Marty) Windon; daughter, Leigh Ann Wiseman of Fairlea; grandson, Justin Windon (Lindsey), great grandson, Hunter and great granddaughter, Hadley of Lewisburg; granddaughter, Tarisa Whitt (Nathaniel Pitzer) and great-granddaughter, Brooklyne of Lewisburg; sister, Irene "Wendy" Nekoranec of Myrtle Beach, SC; sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Windon of Lewisburg and Margie Windon-Joslyn of Battle Creek, MI.

He was preceded in death by parents, Zelma and William Windon; brothers, Hunter Windon, Bob Windon; sister, Jenny Windon and brother-in-law, John Nekoranec and numerous half-brothers and sisters. He is also survived by numerous nieces and great nieces and nephews.

Harold's wishes were to be cremated. Due to Covid restrictions no service will be held at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Lewisburg Elks Lodge.

The Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
