Barbara Jean Berkstresser Ponton, 77, of LaVale, Maryland, died Wednesday, December 23, 2020 in UPMC Western Maryland Hospital in Cumberland, Maryland.

Born November 28, 1943 in Vesuvius, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Edward Berkstresser and Helen Louise Shoemaker Berkstresser.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Etta Lois Berkstresser, and a brother, William Edward "Eddie" Berkstresser.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed. She was very devoted to sharing Christ's love and an active member of the Living Waters Ministries church in Cumberland, Maryland. Her heart and kitchen were always open to anyone in need.

Surviving are her husband of 52 years, David Ponton; children, Andrew Raymond Ponton and wife, Ellen, Mark Henry Ponton and wife, Ondie, Lois Jean Ponton-Katz and husband, John, and Christina Marie Estes and husband, Stacey. She was a wonderful grandmother to her three grandchildren, Caraline, Austin, and David. She is also survived by her brothers, Robert "Bobby" Berkstresser, Lee Everette Berkstresser, and Ray Martin "Shorty" Berkstresser.

A private graveside service will be held in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Cemetery. The Rev. John Tilley will be officiating.
