Obituary for George Lee Sandridge George Lee Sandridge
Brownsburg Resident Was New Providence Presbyterian Church Member

George Lee Sandridge, 89, of Brownsburg, Virginia, died Saturday, December 26, 2020 at his home.

Born July 11, 1931 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Howard Olton Sandridge and Louise Wade Sandridge.

He was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church, and retired after 25 years as a bus driver for Rockbridge County School System. He was also a proud, lifetime farmer.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Doris W. Sandridge; sons, Carl Lee Sandridge and wife, Connie, and Kenny Sandridge and wife, Joyce; granddaughter, Mallory Sandridge and wife, Ashley; two great-grandchildren, Ryder and Hudson; four stepchildren, Becky and husband, Mike McKemy, Mike Weeks and companion, Betty Bowen, Linda Weeks and friend, Julie Elbon, and Ronnie (Brother) Weeks and wife, Paula; and a special nephew, H.O. Sandridge; 12 step-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved pets, Feisty and Boo.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 31 at New Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery with a memorial service to follow immediately after at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Mission Next Door at New Providence Presbyterian Church, 1208 New Providence Road, Raphine, VA 24472 or the Brownsburg Ruritans Club, P. O. Box 113, Brownsburg, VA 24415.

George's family would like to express our many and sincere thanks and gratitude to those of you who took care of and provided the needed resources that enabled him to spend the time he had left on this earth with his family, in both peace and comfort. God bless the Ruritans who provided loads of wood in order to keep him warm, the Mission Next Door Club who built the ramp, the McKemy family who provided needed everyday equipment, the doctors and nurses of both Stonewall Jackson and Henrico Doctors Hospital who provided medical care, the Legacy Hospice nurses for their kindness and care, the New Providence Men's Sunday School Class who provided a boombox and numerous musical tapes for his enjoyment, the family who provided love and support, the friends who cared by calling about him and visiting him, his granddaughter Mallory, who was instrumental in making the arrangements that brought him home so that he could spend Christmas with both his beloved wife Doris and the rest of his family, his barber, Joe Fauber, who made numerous house calls to ensure that when he needed a hair cut he got it, Jimmy Poole, a special neighbor who checked on him daily and brought him food and necessities. Last, but certainly not least a special thanks to Mike, Betty and Connie for their much needed help, their kindness, and providing so much care. Thank you and God bless you all.
