Obituary for Edith Alta LaFon Edith Alta LaFon
Ronceverte Homemaker Was McLean Church Member

Edith Alta LaFon, 82, of Ronceverte, West Virginia, went to be with the Lord on January 2, 2021 after an extended illness at her home place surrounded by family.

Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

She was Presbyterian by faith and a member of McLean Church.

Edith was born to the late William and Flora Masters, a carpenter/farmer and homemaker respectively, in Organ Cave, WV on December 14, 1938.

She was immersed in the community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. She attended school in both Organ Cave and Ronceverte.

Edith, a lifelong homemaker was blessed with a large loving family. She married her childhood sweetheart and best friend, Thomas Leon LaFon on May 10, 1956 in Organ Cave, WV.

Edith raised four children with patience, discipline, and humility, all while keeping up with the house and farm.

Edith was a kid at heart and loved working outdoors even at an early age with her father Bill. She spent most of her life in the kitchen preparing meals as cooking was her passion. She was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to give the best advice or lend a helping hand.

Edith is survived by her husband of 65 years, Thomas; her sons, Robert (Sandy) LaFon and Roger LaFon; her daughters, Peggy (Jimmy) Fletcher and Crystal (Barry) Cox; her grandchildren, Jason (Sandy) Judy, Justin (Jamie) Fletcher, Carson Cox and Cara Cox; her great grandson, Wesley Fletcher; her sister, Jean Daugherty Knight; many nieces and nephews; her cousins, the Masters' siblings that she considered her brothers and sisters; and her friend of many years, Helen.

The family will receive visitors at Morgan Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Services will be held the following day also at Morgan Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Gary Baker officiating, assisted by Reverend John Groves. Her wishes for cremation will take place following services.

The family would like to express our many thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Hospice and the many years of care from Dr. Debra Sams and Dr. Heather Ratliff.
