Covington Native Worked With Local Telephone Company, Pinehurst Motel

Mrs. Patricia Ann Benson Sellers, age 89, of Covington, Virginia, died Sunday, January 3, 2021 at the Brian Center Nursing Care, Low Moor.

She was the wife of Melvin Franklin Sellers, Sr.

Mrs. Sellers was born August 22, 1931 in Covington, the daughter of the late H.L. Benson and Myrtle Cales Lowen.

During her working career, she was employed as a desk clerk by the local telephone company as well as the Pinehurst Motel.

A devout Christian her entire life, Patricia loved the Lord and enjoyed ministering to others especially to the strangers she met at the motel. She was a Sunday school teacher at Mallow Presbyterian Church and a communion director at Good News Church. Mrs. Sellers was also a lifeguard at the former Valley Ridge Country Club.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was her kids' biggest fan and it gave her great pleasure to babysit, help raise and be a huge part of her grandchildren's lives.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Sellers is survived by a two sons, Melvin Franklin Sellers, Jr. and Charles Mitchell Sellers and wife, Marva; four grandchildren, Brandon Sellers and wife, Ruby, Kristin Lee, Ethan Sellers and Haden Sellers; three great grandchildren, Morgan Sellers, Sandy Lee and Madison Lee; a sister, Lily Moses; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sellers was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Wyatt James Lee, Alexander Mitchell and Ethan Clifford Sellers; a brother, James Benson; and two sisters, Betty Landis and Dottie Smith.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Lloyd Via officiating.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorial Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-9959.
