Obituary for Ronald Lee Hughes Ronald Lee Hughes
Former West Virginia Department Of Highways Bridge Crew Leader Dies At Age 73

Ronald Lee Hughes of Ronceverte, West Virginia, went to be with the Lord on January 4, 2021 at CAMC Memorial after a long illness.

He was born July 2, 1947 in Spring Creek, WV, the son of the late Oliver Lee and Lottie Cutlip Hughes.

Ronnie was employed by the WV Department of Highways for 29 years and retired as bridge crew leader.

He was a member of McLean Church in Ronceverte.

He was an Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War. Ronnie was a graduate of Frankford High School and was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved the outdoors.

He never knew a stranger and loved helping people. Ronnie was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth "Sissie" Burwell.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Jane Goodall Hager Hughes; two sons, Steven Hughes and wife, Amanda and Tracy Hughes and wife, Angela, all of Ronceverte; step-daughter, Erin Hager of Ronceverte; step-son, Chris Hager and wife, Ginny of Christiansburg, VA.; grandchildren, Jana Hughes, Ethan, Owen, Cora, Emily, Alyson and Audrey Hughes and Gage and Guy Hager; siblings, Bethel Workman, Jim Hughes, Dreama Halstead and husband, Jerry, all of Frankford; brother-in-law, Banny Burwell of Pickaway; special brothers, Andrew and David Morgan of Ronceverte.

Graveside services for Ronnie will held on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at McLean Church Cemetery, Ronceverte at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor John Groves officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to McLean Church, 344 Masters Road, Ronceverte, WV 24970 in the Memory of Ronald L. Hughes.
