Doris Painter Reid, 91, of Buena Vista, Virginia, went home to be with Jesus on January 10, 2021.

Doris was born on May 31, 1929 to Jessie Calvin Painter and Mary Drain Painter.

She lived all her life in Buena Vista and was a lifelong member of the First Brethren Church.

She was a homemaker for most of her married life and worked part time at Sheltman's Grocery in Buena Vista.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Reid; her daughter, Cynthia Reid; her son-in-law, Bill Flowers; and siblings, Louise Mead (Iowa), Lewis Painter, Lyle Painter, Thurman Painter (Buena Vista), and Irene Bishop (Ashland). She was also preceded in death by her longtime friend, Ruby Ramsey.

Surviving are her daughter, Sheila Flowers; her granddaughter, Mindy Auxier and her husband, John; her sisters, Helen Wright (Buena Vista), Catherine Painter (Ashland), and Loretta Staton (Powhatan).

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

The family would like to thank all of those at Shenandoah Valley Health & Rehab who watched over her since the beginning of her stay in December 2019. Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated. You were her second family. Special thanks to Debi Ruley and Kathy Painter for all their help during the past year. We wouldn't have made it without you.
