Glasgow Presbyterian Church Was Northwest Hardwoods Truck Driver

Norman Preston Claytor, 75, of Glasgow, Virginia, died Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Augusta Medical Center.

Born February 19, 1945 in Lexington, he was a son of the late Forest Wade Hampton Claytor and Mattie Eva Carter Claytor.

Norman was a member of the Glasgow Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder.

He was employed by Northwest Hardwoods as a truck driver and was a lifetime member of the Glasgow Lifesaving Crew.

He loved fishing and hunting with his son and grandson and competing in Glock shooting matches. When his daughter was little, he loved taking her to the movies where they ate popcorn and had drinks.

Surviving are his wife, Sadie Marie Claytor; children, Sarah Claytor Funkhouser and husband, Roger, and Norman Preston Claytor Jr. and wife, Jennifer; three grandchildren, Adam Blake Funkhouser (Mary), Ashley Funkhouser Stong and husband, Chris, and Garrett Preston Claytor; two great-grandchildren, Oceana Funkhouser and Parson Stong; and two special nieces, Cindy Smith and Kim Lehoux.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 21 at Glasgow Cemetery with the Rev. Marina Gopadze officiating.
