Mrs. Barbara Carol Nicely Hayse, age 79, of Covington, Virginia, died Monday, January 18, 2021 at her residence.

She was the wife of Alfred Francis "Jack" Hayse, Jr.

Mrs. Hayse was born November 27, 1941 in Clifton Forge, the daughter of the late James Ralph Nicely, Sr. and Reba Virginia Conner Nicely.

A longtime resident of this community, she was a homemaker.

Barbara was a member of Mallow Presbyterian Church as well as the Ladies Morning Circle #1.

An avid country music fan, Mrs. Hayse loved listening to Alan Jackson and traveling to Nashville, TN to enjoy the sites and sounds of the country music capital of the world.

Barbara enjoyed watching "Days Of Our Lives" on television and canning numerous fruits and vegetables from the big garden she and her husband raised every year.

A loving wife and very special mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her family and most of all, cherished the time she was with her grandchildren whom she dearly loved.

In addition to her husband of 58 years, Mrs. Hayse is survived by a son, Steve Hayse; two daughters, Denise Reynolds and husband, Lee of Covington and Brenda McCallister and husband, Brian of Covington; three grandchildren, Travis Reynolds, Laramie McCallister and Abby McCallister; five sisters, Alma Jean "Peggy" Nicely, Betty Bottenfield, Jenny Crowder, Shirley McCoy and Betty Lou Wall; an aunt, Ruth Hepler; special friend, Teresa Wolfe; the children she babysat, Derek and Brandon Wolfe; and her beloved dog, Sugar.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hayse is preceded in death by two brothers, James Ralph "Jack" Nicely Jr. and E. David Nicely.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2021 at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Gary Marshall officiating.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’'s Research Hospital-Memorial Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-9959.
