Obituary for Charles (Charlie) Wayne Harmon Charles (Charlie) Wayne Harmon
Covington Resident Was Vietnam War Veteran; Worked With Hercules, Homestead

Charles (Charlie) Wayne Harmon, 78, of Covington, Virginia, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021 at LewisGale Alleghany in Low Moor, Virginia.

He was born May 5, 1942 in Alleghany County, Virginia, the son of the late Harold Pershing Harmon and Mildred Hill Harmon.

Mr. Harmon was a 1960 Graduate of Covington High School. He was employed with Hercules, then retired from the Homestead Resort after working as a butcher, and later working in the valet parking.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during the Vietnam War.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Mr. Harmon was married to the late Jane Ann Johnson Harmon who preceded him in death in 2003. He later married Glenna Smith Harmon who preceded him in death in 2020.

He is survived by five sons, Donald Harmon and wife, Claudia of Preston, West Virginia; Harold Daniel Harmon and wife, Tammy of Covington, Virginia, Stewart Dale Harmon &and wife, Chrisy of Hot Springs, Virginia, Douglas William Harmon and wife, Rachel of Lexington Park, Maryland, and David George Harmon and wife, Lori of Rocky Mount, Virginia; step son, Pat Smith and family of Covington, Virginia; 13 grandchildren; Alicia Kadiri, Emily McHenry, Will Harmon, Robbie Harmon, Janie Harmon, Paige Raether, Sarah Donavon, Kalyn Harmon, Wyatt Harmon, Sarah Jane Harmon, Allie Harmon, Hunter Harmon and Noah Harmon; four great grandchildren, Carson Raether, Cameron Raether, Rose Kadiri, Violet Kadiri; and a sister, June Ann Harmon of Mechanicsville, Virginia.

In addition to both wives, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Harmon.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 24, 2021 in the Union Chapel Cemetery with Reverend Richard Goforth officiating.
