Obituary for Anna Mae Nida Ray Anna Mae Nida Ray
Alleghany County Native Was Former Nurse's Aide

Mrs. Anna Mae Nida Ray, age 78, of Covington, Virginia, died Friday, January 22, 2021 at her residence.

Mrs. Ray was born October 14, 1942 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Henry Lewis Nida and Lillian Mae Plymale Nida.

A lifetime resident of this community, she was employed as a nurse's aide by LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany before her retirement.

Mrs. Ray was a member of the Covington Chapter 911, Women of the Moose as well as a member of the Hospital Workers of America Union. Anna was an avid bowler.

Mrs. Ray is survived by two daughters, Robin Ray Reynolds and husband, David of Covington and Victoria Ray "Vicky" Hubble and husband, Joe of Covington; seven grandchildren, Heather Nock, James Reynolds, Daniel Reynolds, Phillip Reynolds, Mary Reynolds, Joseph Hubble and Rhomaleta Wagurack; eleven great grandchildren, Isaiah Hubble, Aleyna House, Caleb Spittle, Luke Gillmore, Naomi Wagurack, Joy Spittle, LilliAnna Reynolds, Forest Reynolds, Kenneth Spittle, Veronica Wagurack and Avett Reynolds; a brother, Johnny Nida and wife, Shirley of Covington; two sisters-in-law, Jeanie Nida and Alvina Nida; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Lee Ray, Jr. in 1961 and Richard Grant Ray in 1997; and two brothers, Marvin Nida and Donald Nida.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Lone Star Cemetery with Rev. Douglas E. Hollenbeck officiating.

Family and friends wishing to attend the service should assemble at Loving Funeral Home by 12:30 to 1:00 p.m.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, wearing masks and following social distancing guidelines are required in order to protect the health and safety of those attending the service.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Ray's grandsons.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the American Diabetes Association, P. O. Box 11454, Alexandria VA 22312.
