Retired Heavy Equipment Operator Was Covington Resident

David Bengil Wickline, age 62, of Covington, Virginia, went to be with his Heavenly Father on January 22, 2021.

He was born in Monroe County, WV on August 28, 1958, the son of the late Florence Isabelle Schumaker and step-father, Ben T. Schumaker; his biological father was Joe B. Wickline.

David retired after 35 years as an equipment operator with Alleghany County Public Works. Heavy equipment was his forte.

He was an avid hunter especially bear hunting. His love for the outdoors was his most joy, along with hunting with his pride and joy, grandsons Carter and Maddox and his many hunting buddies.

He was a Life Member of the Dunlap Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

He leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Marylin Snyder Wickline; his son, Chad D. Wickline and wife, Christy of Clifton Forge, VA; two grandsons, Carter and Maddox Wickline; a step-granddaughter, Kierstin P. Mundy and step-grandson, Talan McGann; sister-in-law, Paige S. and husband, George David Roach of Scottsville, VA; a brother-in-law, Ernie Snyder of Roanoke, VA; and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and one new great niece, Lelia Rue Gee, whom he just met a week ago.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Benjamin "Little Ben" Wickline; a brother, Bobby Joe Wickline; a niece, Elisha D. Snyder, and in-laws, Ernest M. "Jake" and Mary E. "Liz”" Snyder; brothers-in-law, Benjamin L. and Julian "Snyde" Snyder; grandmother, Florence H. Lucas and a number of aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers will be Kevin "Tater" Jackson, Richard "Dewey" Boggs, Jake Bostic, Eddie Helms, Pat Hoke, John Lanford, Rusty Honaker and Justin Paxton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Harmon, Pete Cook, Gomer Craft, Ricky Lucas, Ernie Palmer, Robert Cook, and Ellis Bates.

Visitation is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on January 26, 2021 at Arritt Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. at The Wickline Cemetery in Gap Mills, WV. The service will be performed by pastor William "Bill" Keeney.

The family suggests that memorial tributes be given in the form of contributions to Forrest Memorial Church. Donations may be mailed to 416 Stone Road, Covington, VA 24426.

The family asks that all family and friends follow the Covid-19 guidelines, wear masks and maintain social distancing.
