Obituary for Ruby Louise Wright Whitehead Ruby Louise Wright Whitehead
Covington Resident Was McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church Member

Mrs. Ruby Louise Wright Whitehead, age 95, went to be with her Lord on January 24, 2021.

She was the wife of the late Jay Whitehead, Sr.

Mrs. Whitehead was born August 16, 1925, the daughter of the late Harry Lee and Nannie Campbell Leach Wright.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Whitehead was preceded in death by her sisters, Frances Andrews and Nina Burr; her brother, Ernest Lee "Red" Wright; and her youngest son, Gary Wayne Whitehead.

Mrs. Whitehead was a homemaker and a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Women’s Circle #2 and Littlepage Bible Class.

She is survived by two sons, Jay Whitehead, Jr. and wife, Pat of Virginia Beach and Dennis Whitehead and wife, Debbie of Norfolk; a daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Whitehead of Covington; five grandchildren, Bryan Whitehead, Jennifer Dennis (Ray), Melissa Whitehead, Tiffany DeLoof (Brandon), Courtney Dillman (Bradford); six great grandchildren, Katelynn, Lauren and Emily Dennis, Brooke, Izabel and Dylan DeLoof; a niece, Sharon Nicely (Gregg); a great niece, Dena Godar and her son, Dustin Godar; a great nephew, Skip Goodwillie (Stacey) and their children, James and Ashton; and special friends, Carl and Earleen Withrow and Joan Croy.

She was part of a very large extended family with whom she loved dearly.

The family will receive friends at the residence of Jackie Whitehead, 915 N. Pocahontas Avenue, Covington.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Bill Hartsfield officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church, 900 N. Alleghany Avenue, Covington, VA 24426.
