Obituary for Dorothy (Dot) Stone Kinsey Dorothy (Dot) Stone Kinsey
Former Leggett Employee, Alleghany County Native, Dies At Age 102

Dorothy (Dot) Stone Kinsey, 102, of Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, January 27, 2021 in the Brian Center Rehabilitation & Nursing Care in Low Moor.

She was born June 25, 1919 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Jacob R. Stone and Ada Helmintoller Stone.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Terry Kinsey; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Kinsey; seven brothers, Lanza Stone, Stewart Stone, Carlos Stone, Kenton Stone, Dayton Stone, Johnnie Stone and Med Stone; five sisters, Bertha Holcomb, Reba Miller, Helen Mottern, Ruth Brisendine, and Wilma Buckland.

Dot worked at Leggett's Department Store for many years and was member of Calvary Christian Church where she was member of the choir.

Surviving is a son, Jakie Kinsey of Covington; three grandsons, Terry Kinsey and his wife, Anne, Ronnie Kinsey and his wife, Christie, all of Covington, and Jamie Worley and Melinda of Atlanta, GA; five great grandchildren, Christopher Kinsey, Mason Kinsey, Rachael Kinsey, Emily Kinsey, all of Covington, and Hope Worley of Roanoke; and number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with the current Covid-19 pandemic guidelines, you are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing at all times while attending the service. Visitors are encouraged to stop by the funeral home prior to the service to view/sign the book.

A graveside service will be held Saturday 11:00 a.m. in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Mike Warren officiating, assisted by Rev. Roy Carter.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. on Saturday at Arritt Funeral Home.
