James (Jimmy) Hamilton, 69, of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, N.C.

Born September 10, 1951 in Amherst County, he was the son of Dudley Hamilton and Rosa Branaham Hamilton.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was also preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

He retired from Virginia Military Institute after 37 years and had a lawn business for 30 years.

Jimmy was a kindhearted soul who never met a stranger. He was loved by all who knew him, having a great group of friends in the Buena Vista Shell Bunch.

Surviving are his lifelong partner, Marsha Hamilton; stepdaughter, Tiffani Smith; grandchildren, Kylin and Michael Pentecost; sister, Betty Branaham; and many special nephews and nieces; a very special fishing companion and nephew, Melvin Hamilton; and a very special niece, Crystal Crouch.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 11 at Green Hill Cemetery by Dorsey Hostetter. Masks and social distancing are required.
