Delores Hinton McAllister, 79, of 7306 Dunlap Creek Road, Covington, Virginia, died Friday, February 12, 2021 at Carrington Place in Daleville.

Mrs. McAllister was born December 15, 1941 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late William Lawrence Hinton and Dorothy Turner Hinton Martin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis R. McAllister, in January of this year; her stepfather, Oliver Martin, two sisters, Irma Rogers and Iris Houchens, and two brothers, Bill Hinton and Rodney Hinton.

She was a longtime member of Moss Run Baptist Church.

She greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and their sports and scouting activities.

Surviving are her two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Gwen McAllister and Michael and Amy McAllister, all of Covington; three grandchildren, Cecil and Nicki McAllister of Denver, CO, Kasey and Brandon Harrison and Austin McAllister, all of Covington; one great granddaughter, Olivia Harrison of Covington; two Sisters, Brenda and Michael Carnes of Bedford, PA; and Darlene and Keith Hosey of Clifton Forge; two brothers, James "Buster" and Robin Martin of Summerton, SC, and Howard Hinton of Lexington, NC; a sister-in-law, Cherry Hinton of Artemas, PA; a brother-in-law, Ray Houchens of Scottsville and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In keeping with the current Covid-19 guidelines, you are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing at all times while attending the service. Visitors are encouraged to stop by the funeral home prior to the service to pay their respects.

The funeral service will be held Monday, February 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with Pastor Frank Sizemore officiating.

Interment will be made in Alleghany Memorial Park.
