Obituary for Donald Verlouis Cardwell Sr. Donald Verlouis Cardwell Sr.
Hot Springs Resident Was Self-Employed Contractor, Member Of The Kingdom Hall Of Jehovahs Witnesses

Donald Verlouis Cardwell Sr., 82, of 221 Pinehurst Heights Road, Hot Springs, Virginia, died Friday, February 19, 2021 at his residence.

Mr. Cardwell was born August 11, 1938 in Bath County, a son of the late Rucker Cardwell Sr. and Mayson Kent Cardwell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Merchant Cardwell in 2017, a sister, Alberta Prescott and a brother, Buddy Cardwell.

He was a self-employed contractor and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to work and stay busy, very loving, and caring individual for nature and life and was always lending a helping hand.

Surviving are his four sons: Anthony (Tony) of MD, Donald Jr. of Ohio, Douglas of Denver, CO and Eric of Richmond,; a stepdaughter, La Shawn Powell and husband, Junior of Upper Marlboro, MD; ten grandchildren, one great grandson; one sister, Bertha DeBrill; three brothers, Albert Cardwell, James Cardwell, and Rucker Cardwell Jr. and number of nieces and nephews to include a special niece, LaShonda Debrill.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday March 2, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Elder Elsid Frye officiating.

The funeral arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home.
