Fairfield Resident Was World War II Veteran, Mt. View Pentecostal Holiness Church Member

Richard Thurman Nuckols, 96, of Fairfield, Virginia, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 5, 1925 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Alfred Nuckols and Annie Birch Nuckols.

Richard was a dedicated member of the Mt. View Pentecostal Holiness Church and served his country in World War II as a member of the Navy.

He retired from Kennametal in Lexington and Burlington Industries in Glasgow.

Surviving are his wife, Naomi Nuckols; a brother, William Nuckols; a son, Steven Nuckols, step-children, Clinton (Ginalyn) Lilly, Wilford Lilly, Eddie (Paula) Lilly and Teresa (Tim) Overman; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 16 at Green Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Sheldon Sorrels.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
