Obituary for Kevin Lee Munson Kevin Lee Munson
Covington Resident Was Retired Wastewater Operator

Kevin Lee Munson, 62, of Covington, Virginia, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021 at UVA following a short illness.

Kevin was born on November 24, 1958 to the late Melba Martyn Munson and James Munson of Michigan.

Kevin graduated from Clio High school and a short time later enlisted in the United States Navy. After basic training, Kevin was assigned to the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in Norfolk, Virginia, where he met his wife of 35 years - Elizabeth "Beth" Morgan – Munson.

After his service to his country, he and Beth, along with their children, moved back to WV. Once in WV, Kevin was employed as the wastewater operator in Alderson, before retiring.

Kevin was an avid Michigan Wolverine fan, Detroit Redwings Hockey fan and Detroit Lions football fan and his favorite pastime was fishing and hunting.

Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, Lanny Munson of Grand Rapids, Michigan and sister, Jill Satterley of Clio, Michigan.

Kevin is survived by his wife and three children, DJ Jones (Aaron) of Union, WV., Randy (Amy) Brammer of Alderson and Kevin (Angela) Brammer of Alderson; 10 grandchildren: Scott Winfrey, Ashley Keen (Cole), Austin Simmons, Trice Brammer, Morgan Brammer, Taylor Brammer, Joey Brammer, Ayden Brammer, Abbey Jones and Emilee Brammer; and four great grandchildren: Izabella Winfrey, Gavin Keen, Aria Keen and Charlie Ann Keen, all of whom he loved dearly; a brother, Brent Munson of Florida; an uncle, Gary Munson of Michigan and sister-in-law, Sharon Munson of Michigan; along with brothers-in-law, Bill and Danny Morgan, Kirby Buzzard, and Eugene Loudermilk; along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Kevin is also survived by his best friends, Wayne Lafave and wife, Jerri Ann of Michigan and Jerry and Denise Morten, Lyle Reedy, Mike Marthig and Tim Mingie, all of Michigan.

A visitation will take place at Wallace and Wallace in Lewisburg on Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will take place at a later date with his family and friends on the family farm in Michigan where his ashes will be spread.

The Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
