Russell Leslie Bess, 57, of Roanoke, formerly of Covington, Virginia, died Thursday, April 1, 2021 at his home.

Mr. Bess was born September 14, 1963 in Alleghany County, a son of the late William and Frances Stuple Bess.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two nieces, Torri Sanders and Abigail Baker.

Russell served in the United States Army.

Surviving are three sisters, Karen B. Carter and Billie Jean Harless, both of Covington, and Susan Kalnes of Chicago, IL. And a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.

A funeral service will be held at a later date.
