Clifton Forge Resident Was Retired Westvaco Technician

Ed Preston Thompson, age 82, of 501 Commercial Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia.

Preston was born February 3, 1939 in Clifton Forge to the late Edgar Franklin and Elsie Irene Thomas Thompson.

He retired as a technician from Westvaco of Covington, and was a lifelong member of Clifton Forge Baptist Church. He was also a life member of the Clifton Forge Rescue Squad and enjoyed hunting and gardening in his spare time.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Jean "Becky" Mullins Thompson, and an infant son, Glen Ray Thompson.

Preston is survived by his son, Robert Preston Thompson of Clifton Forge; his daughter, Crystal T. Randozzo and husband, Frank of Millboro; a sister-in-law, Lucille Huntington of Cary, NC; two grandchildren, Thomas Wayne Randozzo and wife, Autumn of Covington, and Morgan Lynn Randozzo and fiancé, Dakota Bowen of Covington; six great grandchildren, Gavin Randozzo, Harper Randozzo, Clayton Randozzo, Sawyer Randozzo, Malani Bowen, and Darci Bowen; niece, Debby Wasky and nephew, Greg Huntington; and a number of cousins, extended family members, and friends.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor, with Reverend Barry Daniel and Dr. Tom Harvey officiating. Interment will immediately follow. There will be no formal visitation. However, family and friends may visit any time during normal business hours at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
