Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church Member Dies At Age 93

Mary Eileen Farmer Rickett, 93, died Friday, April 9, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was the wife of the late Edgar Ray "Eddie" Rickett.

Mrs. Rickett was born January 20, 1928 in Belspring, Virginia, the daughter of the late Robert Orrie Farmer and Mary Sue Miller Farmer.

Mrs. Rickett was a member of Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church. Eileen was also a member of the Martha Chapter 21, Order of the Eastern Star.

She enjoyed bowling and spending time with her team mates, country music and singing hymns.

The last living member of her 13 siblings, Eileen was known for her love of birds, flowers, sweet personality and contagious laughter.

Mrs. Rickett is survived by two sons, Carey A. Rickett and wife, Robin and Mark A. Rickett of Covington; three daughters, Mary "Jann" Lockhart and Kenny Lovelace of Albany, Georgia, Jill R. Burks and husband, L.C., and Lori R. McCormick of Covington; eight grandchildren, Rachel A. Hutchison, Ashley B. Burks, Megan D. Rickett, Carey "Andy" Rickett, Jr., Danny R. "D.J." Moore Jr., Jeremiah S. Lockhart, Daniel J. McCormick, Jr. and Jacob N. McCormick; seven great grandchildren and daughter- in-law, Mary B. Rickett.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Rickett is preceded in death by her son, Adonis "Ricky" Rickett; six brothers, Newt Farmer, Garland Farmer, Billy Farmer, Clarence Farmer, Bobby Farmer and Dwight Farmer; six sisters, Helen Quesenberry, Margaret Winfrey, Evelyn Moore, Doris Ingram, Peggy Via, and Mildred Farmer.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you for the loving care given to our mother over the past few years to, Ermine Meadows, Tammy Hoke, Ashley Wiley, Gail DePriest, Afton Brinkley, Amanda Robinson, Shawn Wright, Tonya Wolfe and Crystal Jack.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Sung Yoo officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be James Jennings and Mrs. Rickett's grandsons.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.

The families suggest that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church, 425 W. Main Street, Covington, VA 24426 and Mountain Regional Hospice, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
