Bath County Businesswoman, Philanthropist, Was Co-Owner Of F. C. Plecker & Sons Construction Company

Wilma Jacqueline (Stephenson) Plecker, (Jackie), age 86, of Douthat State Park Road in Millboro, Virginia, died Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

She was born December 6, 1934 in Warm Springs, Virginia, the daughter of Jesse and Edith Irvine Stephenson.

She married Forrest Clayton "Tate" Plecker on December 29, 1952 (68 years).

Jackie was an incredible businesswoman, philanthropist and community member.

She worked and co-owned F.C. Plecker & Sons Construction with her husband, Clayton and three sons. She also began one of the first woman-owned businesses in Bath County, Oak Ridge Seeding Co., which she worked and operated with her daughter for 15 years.

She served on numerous boards in Bath County and was instrumental in organizing many fundraisers and church events.

Her passion for dancing and music started the Piney Mountain Singers and Piney Mountain Cloggers. These two groups performed all over Virginia and West Virginia.

Jackie orchestrated the Piney Mountain Jamboree which consisted of area talent and her very own singers and cloggers. She also enjoyed softball and bowling.

She was a member of Woodland Church for over 60 years. During that time she served on numerous committees and as board chairperson and treasurer, Sunday school teacher, and choir member.

Her accomplishments were many, but those who knew her know it was her generosity and heart for her friends and neighbors that will live on deeply in her community.

Jackie was an exemplary woman of faith and positivity known for giving her time and cultivating relationships, especially among her family. Her relationship with the Lord and her family were of utmost importance to her.

She is survived by her husband, Forrest Clayton Plecker and her children, Lynn Ellen Black and husband, Tommy, Marty Plecker and wife, Susan, Craig Plecker and wife, Janet, and Ricky Plecker and wife, Shelly, all of Millboro; 11 grandchildren, Kathie Sidner, Shannan Waldeck, Tiffany Williford, Christopher Plecker, Katie Mercer, Erin Roberts, Monica Plecker, Meagan Walkley, Travis Plecker, Emily Fry, and Ryan Plecker; 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Jackie was proceeded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 11:00 Aa.m. in Woodland Union Church, Millboro, with Reverend David George officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Plecker, Travis Plecker, Ryan Plecker, Tommy Black, Forrest Waldeck, Hunter Waldeck, Harvey Plecker, and Billy Webb. Jackie's sons, Marty Plecker, Craig Plecker, and Ricky Plecker will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends and family on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
