Obituary for Carol Adams Hamric Carol Adams Hamric
Lexington Native Dies In Idaho At Age 82

Carol Adams Hamric passed away peacefully in Meridian, Idaho, on April 18, 2021 at the age of 82 after a long battle with dementia, and a stroke in March 2021.

Carol was born on November 7, 1938 in Lexington to Lewis Whitaker Adams and May Davidson.

She grew up in Lexington with her brother, Tom. They had many great adventures together, especially with Tom's faithful boxer dog companion, Tinker, who would follow them both to school every day.

She graduated from Lexington High School in 1956 and from Queens College in 1960 with a degree in education. She was a member of the Phi Mu sorority and developed many great friendships there.

She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Phil Hamric, on June 18, 1960, and they moved to many places, settling in Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 1972. Carol and Phil met in elementary school and were married for 56 wonderful years until Phil passed away on November 11, 2016. Their love and relationship set a role model for true love and caring.

The couple welcomed their first child, Lisa, in 1966. Carol was an incredible and loving mother. She took a break from teaching after Lisa was born to completely devote herself to motherhood.

She was an extraordinary chef and caring Mom, always making every holiday and birthday feel extra special. Their second child, Mark, was born in 1969. Mark was born premature and with severe intellectual disabilities. This created many challenges, but Carol handled it with remarkable courage, patience and love. She adored Mark and was a constant source of love and assistance for him.

In the early 2000s, Carol became a grandma to Jessica and Allison, the lights of her life. She spent many days and evenings with the girls and always had a new art, craft, baking project, water sport or outing planned when they would visit. Highlights were making heart pancakes, trips to the fairy garden, riding bikes and playing in the neighborhood playground.

Mom was one of those special people who were truly kind and nice to everyone. She was incredibly thoughtful and always sent cards and gifts to family and friends that perfectly suited the situation. She had so many good friends over the years. Carol also loved to sew and bake, and was very into genealogy, creating many scrapbooks and family history books.

Carol is survived by her children, Lisa Ross (Lawrence) and Mark Hamric; grandchildren, Jessica and Allison; and her brother, Tom Adams; nephew, Mike Adams and niece, Mimi Adams Hager (Mark); as well as many other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Phil.

Memorial donations may be made to The Arc of Idaho.
