She then moved on to cook for Bone's Diner, becoming well-known for her signature sandwich, the "Big D", as well as her homemade pies.

While raising her family, she enjoyed gardening and raising flowers and had a great love for animals, which often times the family would be surprised by a new resident that she took in (animal).

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lewis Burger; her children, Sherry Lynne Russell, and Thomas Ray Burger; she is also preceded by her siblings, Enos Reynolds, and Elizabeth "Betty" Burdette; and son-in-law, William Billy Ewing.

The family would like to extend a sincere 'thank you' to Greenbrier Health Care Nursing Home (Stacey O'Dell and Connor Pyles) and Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg, WV, with Pastor Michael Neel officiating. Burial will follow at Alleghany Memorial Park in Low Moor, VA.
