Obituary for Mary Sue Cooke Mary Sue Cooke
Ronceverte Resident Was Former Greenbrier Junior High School Cook

Mary Sue Cooke, 88, of Ronceverte, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 16th 2021 at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea.

Sue was born December 29, 1932, in Ronceverte, WV, to the late Earl Elbert and Lena Mary Midkiff Taylor.

For many years, Sue worked as a cook at Greenbrier Junior High School.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Ronceverte, WV, and later became a part of the Rhema Christian Center family in Lewisburg, WV.

Sue was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was extremely witty and always knew how to put a smile on someone's face. She had a big heart and welcomed everyone she met with open arms. She always stood up against injustice and worked hard to make sure everyone felt included. Sue created community everywhere she went, and was a blessing to all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Stephen St. George Cooke; brothers, Earl Thomas Taylor and Fred Compton Taylor; and grandson, Joshua Stephen Cooke.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Stephen Brent Cooke and wife, Sheila, and Timothy Cosby Cooke and wife, Tonya; sister-in-law, Libby Taylor; grandchildren, Rachel Nicole Van Buren and husband, Rodney, Taylor Griffin Baumgardner, Tommi Jean Robson and husband, David, Tia Alise Cooke, and Evan Rigg Cooke; great-grandchildren, Alba Leto Baumgardner, Ava Grace Van Buren, Arley Griffin Grubbs, and Bea Lorraine Robson.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 21st 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Ronceverte, WV, with Pastor Sam McClung officiating.

Visitation for friends and family will be held on Thursday, May 20th 2021 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte, WV.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Steve Cooke and Bob Baker Scholarship c/o The Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation at P. O. Box 1682, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
