Janet Hotinger Cummings, 81, of Lexington, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at her home.

Born December 17, 1939 in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Wilson Hotinger and Ernestine Chittum Hotinger.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Decker Cummings.

Janet was a member of Collierstown Presbyterian Church, and was employed by VMI as a secretary for the Modern Language Department.

Surviving are her sons, Jerry Cummings (Penny) and Larry Cummings (Teresa); and two grandchildren, Christina Cummings-Higgins (Wayne) and Erika Dean (Scott).

A graveside service will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rockbridge SPCA, 10 Animal Place, Lexington, VA 24450.
