Obituary for Marvin (Shorty) Eugene Faudree Marvin (Shorty) Eugene Faudree
Covington Resident Was Army Vietnam Veteran, Westvaco Retiree

Marvin (Shorty) Eugene Faudree, age 77, of Covington, Virginia, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem, VA.

Born at home July 27, 1943 at Sweet Springs, WV, he was the son of the late Spurgeon and Ruth Huffman Faudree.

Marvin was a 1962 graduate of Gap Mills High School. He served his Country proudly and was a U. S. Army Vietnam veteran, having earned two purple hearts, a bronze star, and an overseas bar during his courageous service.

Marvin retired from Westvaco in Covington, Virginia after 44 years of service as a digester operator.

He was a member of the Covington Moose lodge 610, the VFW Post 1033 at Covington, and also a life member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).

Marvin loved his country. He would often share some of his Vietnam war stories and experiences, and most of the time it would give his listeners chills. He enjoyed woodworking and was known for his tap dancing and flat footing techniques.

Marvin was also of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gaye Colene Ferguson Faudree; one brother, Ralph Faudree; stepson, Johnnie Caldwell; stepdaughter, Leah Simmons.

Survivors include one son, Jeff Faudree and wife, Tanga of New Markert, VA; two daughters, Lisa Arbogast and husband, John of Grottoes, VA, and Shelly Faudree of Lewisburg, WV; one stepson, Willie Caldwell of Covington, VA; three stepdaughters, Loura Wolfe and husband, Kenny of Covington, VA, Leressa Bostic and husband, Bobby of Union, WV, and Bonnie Ward of Covington, VA; one brother, Willam Pierce and wife, Lillian of Springfield, Massachusetts; one sister, Irene McMann of Gap Mills, WV and Roanoke, VA; granddaughter, who he raised as a daughter, Crystal Ward of Covington, VA; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Evangelist Barry Daniel officiating. Burial will follow in Carmel Cemetery at Gap Mills, WV, where the West Virginia Honor Guard will conduct Military Graveside Rites.
