Obituary for Gary L. Rayle Gary L. Rayle
Longtime CSX Engineer Dies At Age 64

Gary L. Rayle, age 64, died Friday, June 4, 2021 at St. Ritas Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.

He was born September 1, 1956 in Lima, Ohio to Roger L. Rayle and Marilyn "Mitzi" (Meyer) Matson.

His mother preceded him in death and his father, Roger (Judy) Rayle survives in Columbus Grove.

Gary and his fiancé, Rita Halker, were together for nine years and she survives in Columbus Grove.

Surviving loved ones include his children, Trisha (Christopher) Donaldson, Jared (Erin) Rayle, Angela (Dave) Brinkman, Chris Halker, Shee'Lee (Sean) Rock, and Jeremy (Tiffany) Rayle; grandchildren, Fallon and Harper Donaldson, Tobey Rayle, Julian Rayle, Koryn and Daxton Halker, Bryce (Mara) Gerding, Tori (Kyle) Chamberlain, Jonah Gerding, Jongherri Schreiber-Brinkman, Kayla and Lexie Brinkman; great grandchildren, Eliana Gerding, Sabrina Gutierrez Sixto, Benjamin Russell Chamberlain. His sisters, Jennifer (David) Roby and Lisa (Jeff) Wilson along with many nieces and nephews, also survive him.

Gary was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School. He was a Railroad Engineer with CSX Transportation for over 30 years. He formerly was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Virginia.

His hobbies included anything and everything that ran FAST! …Cars, Boats, Motorcycles, and of course Trains.

Gary was a blessed and beloved father and grandfather, known to those that loved him best, as Poppy and Grandpa.

Services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. Father David Ritchie will officiate with private family burial to be at a later date at St. Anthony's Church Cemetery, Columbus Grove.

Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove.

Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Anthony's Church or St. Anthony's School.
