Obituary for Cornelia Elizabeth Entsminger Conner Cornelia Elizabeth Entsminger Conner
Rockbridge County Native Was Covington Resident

Cornelia Elizabeth Entsminger Conner, age 91, of 2563 Holloway Drive, Covington, Virginia, and formerly of Longdale Furnace, died Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Lewis Gale-Alleghany Hospital.

She was born November 11, 1929 in Rockbridge County to the late Charles W. Entsminger and Sadie Alice Clark Entsminger.

She was a homemaker throughout her life and attended Sharon Baptist Church as well as Longdale United Methodist Church where she served in multiple offices. She kept journals of events throughout her life and wrote two short story books.

Cornelia was an Atlanta Braves fan and an active supporter of CCM Bear Hunters Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lester "Charlie" Conner; three brothers; and a daughter-in-law, Cherry Conner.

She is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Haynes and husband, Frankie of Covington: two sons, Fred Conner and wife, Nettie of Lexington, and Delmas Conner of Clifton Forge; a brother, A. Page Entsminger and wife, Edith of Lexington; a sister, Susie McCulley of Vernona; a brother-in-law, H.W Conner of Clifton Forge; a sister-in-law, Carol Conner of Clifton Forge; five grandchildren, Charlie Conner and wife, Tina, Yvonne Renee Clark and husband, Keith, Alanna May Conner, Laurel Brook Haynes, Caleb E. Haynes; three great grandchildren, Wyatt C. Wood, Cassie Conner, Gracie Conner; and number of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Janis Slough of Myrtle Beach.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend John Hodgen, Reverend Virgil Woodie and Pastor Doug Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Baptist Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Charlie Conner, Caleb Haynes, Wyatt Wood, Brandon Baker, Keith Clark, Brandon Nicely, Rick Entsminger, and Jack Slough. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Nicely, C. R Nicely, Bobby Newcomb, Stevie Nicely, and Steven Nicely, Jr.

The family suggest that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Linens and Lace, 2563 Holloway Drive, Covington, Virginia 24426.
